Thirty-six restaurants across The Woodlands area are offering prix fixe menus through Labor Day as part of Houston Restaurant Weeks, the annual dining promotion that doubles as the largest fundraiser for the Houston Food Bank.

The 38-day event launched Aug. 1 and runs through Sept. 7. Diners can choose multi-course meals at two dinner price points: $55 or $39. Brunch and lunch options, where available, run $25 each. Restaurants make a donation from each prix fixe meal sold: $5 for every $55 dinner, $3 for every $39 dinner and $1 for every $25 brunch or lunch, according to Hello Woodlands, citing Houston Restaurant Weeks.

One key detail for Woodlands diners: proceeds from Montgomery County restaurants are earmarked for the Montgomery County Food Bank rather than the Houston Food Bank.

Who's participating

The local lineup spans steakhouses, Brazilian churrascarias, Japanese and Thai spots, and upscale American grills. Among the $55 dinner options: Amerigo's Grille, Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, Fogo de Chão, Del Frisco's Grille at Hughes Landing, Mastro's Ocean Club, The Capital Grille, Kirby's Prime Steakhouse and Fielding's Wood Grill.

New this year is Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood & Crab at 1900 Hughes Landing Blvd., offering a $55 dinner menu, and North Italia at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive, which has brunch, lunch and dinner options at $25/$25/$39, per Woodlands Online.

Restaurants offering brunch, lunch and dinner include Del Frisco's Grille, Federal American Grill in Oak Ridge North, Morton's Grille on the Waterway, Red Flame Steak and Grill in Magnolia and State Fare Kitchen & Bar at Hughes Landing.

At the $39 dinner tier, options include Black Walnut, Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, Churrascos, Phat Eatery, Sal e Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse, Thai Cottage and Zanti, among others.

How it works

Diners must ask for the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. The donation is not automatic on a regular order.

"My mother started Houston Restaurant Weeks in 2003 to help restaurants through their hardest month, and that mission has never mattered more than it does right now," Katie Stone, president of The Cleverley Stone Foundation, said in a July 21 statement ahead of the event's launch.

Stone's mother, the late Cleverley Stone, created the event to boost restaurant traffic during Houston's brutal August slowdown while raising money for food relief. Now in its 23rd year, the campaign has raised more than $23 million and generated the equivalent of more than 70 million meals across Southeast Texas.
