Sixty juried artists and designers from across the country will set up shop at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott in late September for a two-day indoor show that doubles as a fundraiser for local arts education.
The Woodlands Fine Craft, Art & Design Show runs Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hotel's Town Center North Exhibit Hall at 1601 Lake Robbins Drive. The event is produced by The Woodlands Arts Council, the nonprofit behind the annual Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.
This year marks a rebrand. The show was previously called the Texas Fine Craft Show; the new name, according to Hello Woodlands, reflects expanded programming that now includes art and design alongside traditional fine craft categories.
"Over the years, we've listened to our artists, patrons, sponsors, and community, and this evolution reflects what they've told us they value most," Jenny Carattini-Wright, executive director and CEO of The Woodlands Arts Council, said when the name change was announced in July.
Carattini-Wright, a Woodlands resident with more than 30 years in events and nonprofits, said the show has grown to embrace jewelry and wearable design, art and sculpture, and fine craft and home décor. Mediums on display include ceramics, glass, leather, metal, wood and decorative fiber.
Beyond the vendor booths, the weekend includes live music, scheduled "Meet the Makers" booth talks where artists discuss their techniques, and specialty vendors.
Tickets and logistics
Tickets went on sale Aug. 3 and are available at thewoodlandsartscouncil.org. All fees are included in the ticket price, and proceeds benefit the Arts Council's education programs. The organization has invested $1.8 million into the community over 20 years through student scholarships, microgrants and public art installations.
Ticket tiers include a Weekend Pass, Single-Day Admission and a "First Look Experience Bestie Bundle" that grants early access at 9 a.m. Saturday with complimentary prosecco, coffee, pastries, two weekend passes and two commemorative tote bags. Children 12 and under get in free with a ticketed adult.
Buyers who purchase online by Friday, Sept. 25, are automatically entered for a chance to win a $250 art credit redeemable at the show.
Parking is free on the fourth floor of the Town Center Garage, and a complimentary trolley runs from other Town Center lots to the hotel. Valet parking is available through the Marriott.
