The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office booked 67 people into custody on Monday, Aug. 17, setting a new single-day high for the countywide impaired-driving enforcement campaign covering The Woodlands.

That tops the 66 bookings logged on Sunday, Aug. 16, and well above the 47 arrests on Aug. 14, the campaign's opening day. At least 10 of Monday's bookings carried DWI-related charges, according to the daily booking log published by Montgomery County Police Reporter. Those charges included driving while intoxicated with a child under 15, DWI third offense or more, and DWI combined with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

A new campaign high.

The Intoxicated Driver Mobilization campaign, a partnership between Sheriff Wesley Doolittle's office and the Texas Department of Transportation, launched Aug. 14 and runs through Monday, Sept. 7, which is Labor Day. Additional deputies are deployed across the county during the enforcement period, with the MCSO Woodlands Patrol Division among the participating units, according to Hello Woodlands.

Recent county data shows nearly one in three fatal collisions in Montgomery County involves a driver under the influence, the Sheriff's Office said when announcing the campaign on Aug. 11.

Beyond DWI, Monday's log included controlled-substance possession charges, family violence assaults, fraud and credit card offenses, and two ICE immigration holds. All bookings are arrests only; charges may change and no conviction has been established.

Fraud alert: deputies won't demand gift cards

The Sheriff's Office repeated a fraud warning alongside Monday's booking log, reminding residents that no MCSO employee, jail staff member or bail bond company will ever call to demand immediate payment via gift cards, cash or other unusual methods. The office said callers who pressure or threaten recipients are scammers.
