Two classic-rock bands from the same hometown will share the stage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Thursday, Aug. 20, when Chicago and Styx bring their co-headlining Windy Cities Tour to The Woodlands.

Gates open for the 7 p.m. show at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, with tickets starting at $58, according to Patch.

The tour's full name, The Windy Cities Tour – All The Hits…Your Kind of Tour, nods to both bands' Chicago, Illinois, roots. The run kicked off July 14 and stretches through Sept. 6, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

Chicago is in its 59th consecutive year of touring. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees are led onstage by co-founding trumpet player Lee Loughnane, the last original member still on the road with the band. Co-founders Robert Lamm and James Pankow stepped away from regular performances due to health concerns.

"The legacy material that we've put together works every night," Loughnane told the Chicago Tribune on July 27.

The current Chicago lineup features 10 musicians, including lead vocalist Rudy Cardenas, a former American Idol Season 6 contestant. Between them, Chicago has racked up 21 Top 20 hits over its career.

Styx brings its own deep catalog. Keyboardist and co-vocalist Lawrence Gowan told Cleveland.com in July that fans can expect arena-rock staples like "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," "The Grand Illusion," "Too Much Time on My Hands" and "Blue Collar Man," alongside material from the band's 2025 album Circling From Above. Styx has eight Top 20 hits to its name.

Singer and guitarist Tommy Shaw told the Chicago Tribune on July 27 that the pairing with Chicago felt natural. He recalled hearing the band's 1969 debut album as a teenager: "When Chicago Transit Authority came out, it changed my world."
