A former Magnolia Police Department officer who also worked as a school bus driver for Magnolia ISD was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 11, in Minden, Louisiana, on a charge of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.
Brandon David Muse, 44, of Magnolia was taken into custody by Minden police after the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office contacted the department for assistance, according to a press release from Constable Ryan Gable's office published Wednesday.
Detectives assigned to Children's Safe Harbor received a report from Child Protective Services in May alleging Muse sexually abused a child who was 14 years old at the time of the alleged offense. ABC13 reported the alleged assault occurred approximately three years ago in Montgomery County.
Capt. Adam Acosta of the Precinct 3 Constable's Office told ABC13 that investigators believe Muse was a friend of the victim's family and do not believe he knew the victim through his school district job.
Acosta said Muse was active in youth and church groups in Magnolia and The Woodlands and remained active in similar groups after moving to Louisiana. Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims.
"He was always wanting to be involved with these youth groups of victims that were in 5th and 6th grader levels, so we are concerned that there could be another incident that may have happened that nobody knows about or has said anything about yet," Acosta told ABC13.
Records show Muse worked as a Magnolia police officer from 2017 to January 2020. Magnolia ISD confirmed to ABC13 that he worked as a bus driver trainee from August 2023 to January 2024, then drove for the district until April 2024. At the time of his arrest, Muse was employed as a school bus monitor for a school district in the Minden area.
Neither Magnolia ISD nor the Magnolia Police Department has issued a public statement about Muse's former employment.
No bond amount, court date or extradition timeline has been announced. Muse is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Anyone with information about Brandon David Muse is asked to call the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office at 281-364-4211 and request to speak with a detective.
