The Woodlands Township's annual doubles tennis tournament is expanding this fall, adding a Mixed Doubles bracket for the first time and dropping the minimum age from 18 to 16.

The 3rd Annual Founders Cup is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, with registration opening Monday, Aug. 10, through the Township's online portal, according to the event listing on Woodlands Online. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Three divisions will run in a round-robin format: Ladies Doubles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Both partners on a team must register individually.

The fee is $65 per player for Township residents and $75 for non-residents. Last year's early-bird resident rate was $55, though this year's standard rate reflects expanded programming that includes the new mixed bracket, limited-edition tournament swag and a catered lunch for every registered player.

The first two Founders Cups, held in October 2024 and October 2025, featured only same-gender doubles brackets for players 18 and older. This year's field opens the event to younger competitors and mixed-gender teams for the first time.

It's a full day of tennis.

Players can register online, by phone at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park (281-210-3950) or the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park (281-516-7348), or in person at either location. Bear Branch Park is at 5310 Research Forest Drive; Rob Fleming Park is at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive.

The Oct. 7 registration deadline falls 10 days before the tournament.
