More than 315 youth soccer teams descended on The Woodlands and Conroe the weekend of Aug. 22-24 for the 21st annual Houston Youth Cup, filling eight venues with 500-plus matches across age groups U9 through U19.

The preseason tournament, organized by HTX Soccer, drew thousands of spectators to sidelines across both communities. Stuart Taylor, tournament director for HTX Soccer, said the event's growth reflects broad support.

"The Houston Youth Cup continues to grow because of the incredible commitment from the clubs, coaches, volunteers, referees, facility partners, and sponsors," Taylor said in a recap published Tuesday, Aug. 25. "We're proud to provide an event that gives players meaningful competition during the pre-season period."

The scale was significant. HTX Soccer partnered with The Woodlands Township and the City of Conroe to secure fields and resources for the three-day event.

Simon Boddison, HTX Soccer's director of soccer operations, said the partnership advances both competitive player development and local economic benefit. Hotels, restaurants and attractions in both communities saw increased traffic from visiting families, according to the recap. No specific dollar figure for the tournament's economic impact has been released.

The Houston Wolves Soccer Club posted on X on Monday, Aug. 24, that its U11 Boys Black team and Coach Vince competed in the tournament.

With 315-plus teams and 21 years of history, the Houston Youth Cup ranks among Texas's largest preseason youth soccer events. HTX Soccer's profile has risen nationally after its U13 Girls team won a third consecutive USYS National Championship in July 2026, a first for any club in that age group.

No date has been announced for the 2027 Houston Youth Cup.
