The John Cooper School is featured on the cover of Living Magazine's September 2026 issue, a milestone for the Woodlands private school as it approaches its 40th anniversary.
The cover story focuses on how the pre-kindergarten-through-12th-grade school prepares students for leadership and civic responsibility, according to the school's website.
Head of School Dr. Stephen Popp said the school's mission goes beyond academics. "The phrase 'responsible citizens and leaders' invites students to consider not only what they know, but how they live, serve, speak, question, collaborate, and contribute," Popp said on the school's website.
Popp also pointed to founder George P. Mitchell's vision. Mitchell, who developed The Woodlands, granted the school acreage as part of the community's original master plan, according to the school's published history. The school opened Sept. 6, 1988, with 162 students and graduated its first class of 26 seniors in 1994.
The school has not announced specific 40th-anniversary event dates.
