Discovery School of Innovation opened a new six-acre campus in The Woodlands area on Tuesday, Aug. 25, adding a private school option for local families seeking small class sizes and a curriculum built around AI, coding and hands-on projects.

The school, founded in 2020, serves students from Pre-K4 through Grade 8 and maintains an 11-to-1 student-teacher ratio with certified teachers. It is accredited by Cognia, the national accrediting body.

The campus features a modern stone façade and reflects the school's hands-on teaching philosophy, according to Hello Woodlands. Students work through engineering and robotics challenges, building and testing real-world solutions alongside AI and coding instruction woven into core academics.

"The facility was designed around our educational philosophy, in which the learning environment itself plays an active role in each child's development," Director Catherine Sagar said in an Aug. 25 press release.

The Pre-K4 program draws on the Reggio Emilia approach, which centers on child-led inquiry and collaboration rather than traditional teacher-directed instruction.

For older students, the curriculum pairs project-based learning with what the school calls strong academic fundamentals. The school describes itself as one of the region's fastest-growing private schools, though enrollment figures are not publicly available.

Discovery School of Innovation plans to expand further. High-school enrollment is targeted to begin in August 2027, according to the school's website, with a college-preparatory curriculum continuing the project-based model.

The school is private and non-sectarian.
