Three law enforcement agencies seized nearly seven pounds of marijuana, thousands of grams of THC products, a firearm and approximately $30,000 in cash from a Rayford Road smoke shop on Tuesday, Aug. 18, after an investigation prompted by public tips.

The Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team, Homeland Security Investigations and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Crime Reduction Unit executed the search warrant at Exotic Kings Smoke & Vape, 324 Rayford Road, according to the Sheriff's Office. The business sits directly next to a child daycare center, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle's office said.

Investigators recovered more than 1,200 grams of THC vape devices and more than 4,000 grams of THC edibles in addition to the marijuana and firearm. The cash is believed to be tied to illicit drug sales, according to investigators.

Mohamed Elwaseem, 25, was arrested following the search and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

The Sheriff's Office described the operation as the result of an extensive narcotics investigation launched after receiving multiple tips from the public about suspected illegal activity at the business.

Federal agency joined the operation

Homeland Security Investigations, a federal agency under the Department of Homeland Security, participated alongside the two county units. The three agencies worked in coordination to execute the warrant, Click2Houston reported.

The total THC product seizure exceeded 5,200 grams. That does not include the marijuana.

Rayford Road is a heavily traveled commercial corridor in south Montgomery County used daily by Woodlands-area residents.

No additional charges or follow-up court dates have been announced. It is unclear whether other individuals may face charges.
