Seven candidates will compete for three Conroe ISD board seats in the Nov. 3 election, with a free public forum planned at Lone Star College in The Woodlands.
Montgomery County residents face an Oct. 5 deadline to register to vote. Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, and Election Day polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to Community Impact.
Woodlands Online and Community Impact are co-presenting the candidate forum at the Lone Star College System Office, 5000 Research Forest, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., according to the Woodlands Online event listing. Candidates will introduce themselves, lay out their platforms and answer questions from two moderators. Woodlands Online will livestream the event. A specific date for the forum has not been announced publicly; check woodlandsonline.com for updates.
Positions 1, 2 and 3 on the seven-member board are on the ballot. Trustees serve four-year terms and are elected at-large, meaning every voter in the district picks every seat, according to CISD.
The forum is free.
In Position 1, Aggie Gambino faces Ryan Tsamouris. Gambino was appointed to the seat in January after former Trustee Tiffany Nelson resigned. She founded The Learning Edge Consulting and chairs the district's Special Education Parent Advisory Council. Tsamouris co-chairs CISD's school health advisory council and has a background in information technology.
Position 2 is an open seat after incumbent Melissa Dungan chose not to run again. Three candidates are competing: Robin Deferrari, a CISD parent and former PTO president; Rodney "Rod" Hammer, an executive with more than 25 years of leadership in industrial and construction companies; and Destinee Milton, a former CISD teacher at Conroe High School 9 and Grand Oaks High School.
In Position 3, Board President Misty Odenweller seeks reelection against Phillip Martin, a school finance professional with more than 20 years of experience, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The district earned a B rating from the Texas Education Agency for the third straight year in 2026, scoring 85 out of 100 across all three accountability domains, according to Hello Woodlands. CISD served 72,352 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to Ballotpedia.
