The Woodlands Township will host a "Salute to First Responders" Blood Drive on Thursday, Aug. 20, giving donors a chance to give blood and meet officers from local law enforcement agencies.
The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. A single blood donation can save up to three lives, the Township said in a press release. Donated blood supports accident victims, surgery patients, people undergoing cancer treatment and others facing medical emergencies.
The Township described the event as a way for residents to become part of the community's emergency response network by helping ensure lifesaving blood products are available when first responders need them.
Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome. Residents can schedule a time at commitforlife.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/390823.

The Aug. 20 drive is separate from the Memorial Hermann community blood drive scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, at a different venue. Residents looking to donate twice can mark both dates.
