Residents who want free pizza, a fire truck visit and a reason to meet their neighbors have until Sept. 4 to score the best deal on this year's National Night Out.

The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Services Department opened registration for Oct. 4 block parties, the community's annual National Night Out celebration, according to an announcement posted Monday, Aug. 17, on Woodlands Online. Parties run 3 to 6 p.m. across all villages.

Hosts who register by the Friday, Sept. 4 early-bird deadline will be entered in a drawing for free pizza and other prizes. Local law enforcement and The Woodlands Fire Department plan to briefly visit many of the registered neighborhoods during the event.

The Township has been promoting NNO registration since at least late June, when its Neighborhood Services team set up a sign-up booth at a "Sirens and Snow Cones" outreach event at Capstone Park.

How to register and what comes next

Party hosts can sign up through the Township's online registration form at cognitoforms.com/TheWoodlandsTownshipNeighborhoodWatch/NationalNightOutPartyRegistration2. After registering, hosts should pick up party supplies at Packet Pick Up Day on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Woodlands Township offices, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., at the Board Chambers entrance.

Award-winning tradition

The Woodlands' National Night Out program has earned national recognition. The Township won a 2024 National Night Out award from the National Association of Town Watch in the 100,000–300,000 population category, according to the Texas Crime Prevention Association. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office South Patrol Crime Prevention Unit, which serves The Woodlands area, has driven more than 300 NNO events over the years and received the Outstanding Crime Prevention Agency award at the 2024 TCPA state conference, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Most of the country holds National Night Out in August, but Texas communities celebrate in October. The Township describes the local version as a series of fall activities spanning kick-off events to dozens of registered block parties, all aimed at strengthening ties between residents and public safety agencies.

The early-bird registration deadline is Sept. 4. Packet Pick Up Day is Sept. 24. The parties themselves are Oct. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m.
