Urban Outfitters shoppers at The Woodlands Mall will find the store's current space closed this week, but a new location inside the same mall opens Saturday, Aug. 15.
The clothing retailer is relocating to a spot in front of the Windsor store inside the mall at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive, according to Community Impact, which cited signage posted at the mall. The current storefront is closed through Friday, Aug. 14, while the move wraps up.
Urban Outfitters sells clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women. The brand operates 252 stores across North America and Europe and reported 9.3% comparable-store sales growth in its most recent quarter, according to a fiscal first-quarter earnings summary. The parent company, Urban Outfitters Inc., plans to open eight new Urban Outfitters-branded locations in fiscal year 2027.
CFO Melanie Marein-Efron told analysts in May that the company's net new store growth is "primarily being driven by growth in FP Movement, Free People, and Anthropologie stores." The broader URBN portfolio plans to open 54 total stores and close about 19 in the current fiscal year, with the eight Urban Outfitters-branded openings making up a small portion of that activity.
Neither Brookfield Properties, which manages The Woodlands Mall, nor Urban Outfitters corporate has publicly commented on why the store is shifting to the new space or whether the footprint will change.
The Woodlands Mall is a two-level enclosed mall accessible from I-45 at Exit 77 on Lake Woodlands Drive. Shoppers can also reach the mall via the free Woodlands Waterway Trolley, which connects to Market Street and Hughes Landing and runs approximately every 10 minutes during peak hours. The mall management office can be reached at 281-363-3363.
The grand opening is set for Saturday, Aug. 15.
