Scott Starzyk didn't miss a single field goal inside 40 yards last season.

The former Woodlands High School kicker, who graduated in the class of 2025, is now LSU's starting placekicker heading into the Tigers' Saturday, Sept. 5, season opener against Clemson in Baton Rouge. Tiger Rag profiled Starzyk on Monday, Aug. 10 as No. 31 on the LSU roster, spotlighting the 5-foot-10, 172-pound sophomore's perfect accuracy from close range and his ability to connect from beyond 50.

Starzyk's freshman year at Arkansas in 2025 was anything but quiet. He went 14-for-18 on field goals, made all 47 extra-point attempts and led the Razorbacks in scoring with 89 points. His 53-yard field goal came on the very first attempt of his college career, in Arkansas' 52-7 season-opening win over Alabama A&M. He finished 9-for-9 inside 40 yards, 3-for-6 from 40 to 49 and 2-for-3 from 50-plus.

The SEC named him to its All-Freshmen team.

Before leaving The Woodlands, Starzyk was rated the nation's No. 1 kicker and a five-star prospect by Kohl's Kicking. 247Sports ranked him the No. 10 kicker nationally and a three-star recruit. He originally committed to Iowa before flipping to Arkansas after kicker Evan Noel left the Razorbacks for Florida.

Starzyk entered the transfer portal on Jan. 4, posting on social media: "I'm officially in the transfer portal. Thank you to all the fans at Arkansas for a great year."

Within days, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin and special teams coordinator Joe Houston brought him aboard as the 12th portal addition of the offseason. The Tigers needed a replacement after senior Damian Ramos exhausted his eligibility. Ramos left as LSU's all-time leader with 69 career field goals and 409 points.

Starzyk has three years of eligibility remaining. His first chance to kick in purple and gold comes Sept. 5 when LSU hosts Clemson in the Lane Kiffin era opener at Tiger Stadium.

Back in The Woodlands, high school two-a-days began in early August and Conroe ISD students return to class Wednesday, Aug. 12. LSU's full home slate includes four SEC games after the Clemson opener.
