St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands celebrated its new name, CommonSpirit — St. Luke’s Hospital — The Woodlands, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The rebrand reflects the hospital’s existing connection to parent organization CommonSpirit Health. Jim Parisi, president of the system’s The Woodlands, Lakeside and Springwoods Village campuses, led the ceremony alongside Aaron Cox, president and CEO of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, and hospital staff, Community Impact reported.

“We’re making a public, visual declaration,” Parisi said. “We are part of something much larger than ourselves.”

For patients, the hospital said the name change will not affect insurance coverage or in-network status. Patients will continue receiving care from the same physicians, nurses and care teams, according to Community Impact.

The ceremony included a formal blessing of the hospital’s new signage, according to an Oct. 6 announcement published by Woodlands Online.

The change is part of a broader rollout covering nine St. Luke’s hospital campuses in the Houston region, including The Woodlands, Springwoods Village, Lakeside, Sugar Land, Vintage, Pasadena and Brazosport, along with Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center’s Bertner and McNair campuses. The medical group and emergency care operations are also adopting CommonSpirit branding, according to an August announcement published by Woodlands Online.

CommonSpirit Health formed in 2019 through the merger of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health. St. Luke’s became part of the system through that merger.

Alongside the rebrand, CommonSpirit is expanding its collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine. The expanded relationship is intended to bring Baylor specialists to St. Luke’s community hospitals, according to the August announcement. The two organizations have jointly owned Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center since 2014.

Community Impact reported that the new CommonSpirit signage at St. Luke’s hospital campuses will also feature the Baylor College of Medicine logo.

The available announcements do not specify which additional Baylor specialists will serve The Woodlands campus or when.

The hospital has served northern Harris County and Montgomery County for more than 20 years, according to Woodlands Online. Its services include heart care, neurology, women’s services, diagnostic imaging and orthopedics. Its clinical affiliations include Baylor College of Medicine, the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.
