Woodlands-area residents head to the polls starting Monday, Oct. 19, with a ballot that includes contested races for the Township Board of Directors, three Conroe ISD trustee seats and Montgomery County judge.

Election Day is Nov. 3. Early voting runs through Oct. 30.

Township board: Position 3 draws three candidates

Four at-large seats on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors are on the ballot, but only one is contested. Positions 1, 2 and 4 each have a single candidate: Lee Wilson, Linda Nelson and Craig Eissler, respectively, according to the township's filing announcement.

Position 3 is a three-way race among Priscila Young, Nick Tran and Lisa Gilmore. None are incumbents. Each seat carries a two-year term and is elected at large by voters in both the Montgomery County and Harris County portions of The Woodlands.

Woodlands Online reported that questions have surfaced about Tran's compliance with Texas election law. The Preserve The Woodlands Candidate Committee alleged that Tran's campaign signage does not meet Texas Election Code Section 255.006 requirements for non-incumbent advertising and that filing records show no properly filed Campaign Treasurer Appointment form. Tran's response to those allegations does not appear in available public records as of publication.

Hello Woodlands published interviews with all six township candidates on Oct. 9.

Conroe ISD: three trustee seats up

Three Conroe ISD Board of Trustees positions are on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to the Houston Chronicle. Trustees serve four-year terms.

Position 1: Aggie Gambino, who was appointed to the seat in January after former Trustee Tiffany Nelson resigned, faces Ryan Tsamouris. The Chronicle reported that Gambino founded The Learning Edge Consulting and chairs the district's Special Education Parent Advisory Council. Tsamouris co-chairs the district's school health advisory council and has a background in information technology.

Position 2: Three candidates are running for the seat vacated by Melissa Dungan, who did not seek reelection: Robin Deferrari, Rodney Hammer and Destinee Milton. The Chronicle described Milton as a former Conroe ISD educator, Hammer as a longtime executive in industrial and construction companies, and Deferrari as a parent and PTO volunteer.

Position 3: Incumbent Misty Odenweller faces Phillip Martin. The Chronicle reported that Martin is a school finance professional with more than 20 years of experience.

Montgomery County judge

Incumbent Mark Keough, a Republican first elected in 2018, faces Democrat James Graf, according to a Woodlands Online candidate list. Community Impact's voter guide noted that neither candidate responded to its questionnaire.
