A 49-year-old man was shot and killed on the Grand Parkway near The Woodlands after a traffic incident Sunday, Oct. 25, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.

Pablo Miguel Angel was pronounced dead at the scene on eastbound SH 99 near Riley Fuzzel Road. Deputies responded around 12:30 a.m. and attempted life-saving measures, but Angel did not survive, according to the sheriff's office.

Witnesses told investigators that following a traffic incident, both drivers stopped and got out of their vehicles. One driver approached Angel and shot him with a handgun, then returned to their car and fled, deputies said.

No arrest has been made.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle told KHOU that preliminary information indicates the driver of a red vehicle struck another vehicle on the main lanes of SH 99 before the shooting. Doolittle said the driver of the red vehicle then fired several shots at the other driver before fleeing. He called the information preliminary and said his office would release more details as they become available.

"Even seemingly minor details could be critical to the investigation," Doolittle wrote, asking anyone who was in the area or has dashcam footage to contact investigators.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a red passenger car. Its make, model and year are unknown. The shooter was described as an adult wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt over a white undershirt. No other description is available, the sheriff's office said.

Fox 26 reported that witnesses described the initial encounter as a minor collision or traffic encounter before both drivers stopped and exited their vehicles. Major Crimes detectives and crime scene investigators are working the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
