Montgomery County voters cast 18,837 ballots on Monday, Oct. 19, the first day of early voting for the Nov. 3 general election, the Montgomery County Elections Commission reported.
The total includes votes at all 10 polling locations, mail-in ballots received to date and 11 "limited votes" from registered voters who moved to a new Texas county and will not be registered there by Election Day. The count represents about 4% of the county's approximately 461,000 registered voters, according to Woodlands Online, which first reported the figures.
That pace trails the 2024 presidential election, when well over 20,000 Montgomery County residents voted on the first day of early voting. The county's estimated population is 781,194.
Two of the 10 early voting sites sit in The Woodlands: the George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library at 8125 Ashlane Way and the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center at 2250 Buckthorne Place. Both are listed as new locations on the county elections page.
Woodlands residents have at least four contested races on their ballots. The Township Board of Directors Position 3 seat drew three candidates: Priscila Young, Nick Tran and Lisa Gilmore. Positions 1, 2 and 4 each have a single filer. As we reported Oct. 18, voters will also choose among contested Conroe ISD Board of Trustees races for Positions 1, 2 and 3.
Each township board seat carries a two-year term and is elected at large by voters in The Woodlands in both Montgomery and Harris counties.
Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30. Polls are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 23. Weekend hours shift to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. The final week, Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents can reach the Montgomery County Elections Administration office at 936-539-7843.
