At least 13 people were arrested on driving-while-intoxicated charges Saturday, Aug. 8, making DWI the most common offense on a Montgomery County Sheriff's Office booking log that totaled 54 arrests countywide. The MCSO provides primary law enforcement for The Woodlands through its patrol division, and the blotter reflects activity across the county including the Woodlands area.

The arrests came four days before Conroe ISD's first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Among the DWI cases, one person was booked on a charge of DWI third offense or more, with bond set at $100,000. Another faced DWI with a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 or higher, and a third was charged with DWI paired with unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Other DWI arrests included one paired with resisting arrest and another combined with a felony drug possession charge.

Beyond DWI, the blotter included at least five public intoxication arrests, multiple controlled substance possession charges and several family violence assault cases. One person was booked on a felony charge of injury to a child, elderly or disabled person with intent to cause bodily injury, filed in the 221st District Court. Another faced a felony family violence assault charge with a previous conviction.

Saturday's 54 bookings were down from the previous Saturday, Aug. 1, when the jail logged 60 bookings that included felony charges of aggravated kidnapping and robbery, as we reported Aug. 3.

Montgomery County has maintained an aggressive DWI enforcement posture. District Attorney Brett Ligon said in a July 7, 2025, press release announcing 52 DWI and boating-while-intoxicated arrests over the July 4th weekend that the county "takes a zero-tolerance approach" to impaired driving.

Fraud warning renewed

The booking log's header repeated the sheriff's office standing warning about phone scams targeting families of arrested individuals. The MCSO said no employee, jail staffer or legitimate bail bond company will ever call to demand immediate payment via gift cards, cash or other unusual methods.

Scammers exploit publicly available jail roster data to identify targets, the sheriff's office warned. Residents who receive a suspicious call should not comply and can report it to the MCSO at (936) 538-5900.

All charges listed in the booking log are arrest charges only and have not been adjudicated. All individuals are presumed innocent.
