The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office logged 60 jail bookings on Saturday, Aug. 1, with felony charges that included aggravated kidnapping, multi-count drug manufacturing, and robbery, according to the daily blotter published by Scott Engle for the Montgomery County Police Reporter.
MCSO provides primary law enforcement for The Woodlands through its Woodlands Patrol Division.
Saturday's total continues a high-volume stretch: 79 bookings on Friday, July 31, and 40 on Thursday, July 30, for a three-day total of 179 arrests countywide.
Felony highlights
One man faced three felony charges filed as on-the-spot arrests in District Court 9: aggravated kidnapping to facilitate a felony, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation. No bond amount was listed. Under Texas Penal Code §20.04, aggravated kidnapping is a first-degree felony carrying 5 to 99 years or life in prison.
A second man was booked on six charges: manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 (4 grams to less than 200 grams), manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance Penalty Group 2 or 2-A (4 grams to less than 400 grams), and possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 2 (4 grams to less than 400 grams). He also had three out-of-county warrants from Bexar County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful restraint, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation.
A third man was booked on a robbery charge. His bond was set at $50,000.
DWI leads charge categories
Driving while intoxicated was the most common charge on Saturday's blotter, with at least 11 DWI-related bookings. Two rose to felony level: one for DWI with a child under 15 years of age, a state jail felony, and another for DWI third offense or more.
The blotter also listed at least four family violence-related assault charges and multiple theft and evading-arrest bookings.
MCSO renews fraud warning
The Sheriff's Office repeated its standing warning to Woodlands-area residents: no MCSO employee, jail staff member, or legitimate bail bond company will ever call to demand immediate payment via gift cards, cash, or other unusual methods. The agency has previously investigated more than 55 scam cases linked to misuse of jail roster data, according to the MCSO's official website. In those cases, scammers posed as bail bond agents, Sheriff's Office personnel, and court officials to extract money from inmates' families.
All individuals listed on the blotter are presumed innocent. Charges are at the booking stage and have not been adjudicated.
