Young tennis players in The Woodlands have three chances to compete this fall, with the Township's Fall Youth Tennis Tournament Series kicking off Saturday, Oct. 10, at Bear Branch Park.

The series, open to players ages 10 to 18, runs monthly through December with tournaments also scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 12. All three events take place at Bear Branch Park, the Township's largest tennis facility with 11 lighted courts.

Registration is $15 per tournament for Township residents and $20 for non-residents. Space is limited. The Township noted in its fall programming announcement that many programs fill quickly, encouraging families to register early.

The Township described the series as a competitive but friendly environment for young players to challenge themselves against peers.

Players can sign up three ways: online at thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/signupforfun, by phone, or in person at either the Bear Branch Recreation Center (5310 Research Forest Drive; 281-210-3950) or Rob Fleming Recreation Center (6464 Creekside Forest Drive; 281-516-7348). Fall program registration opened Monday, Aug. 10.

The Oct. 10 opener falls on the same Saturday as the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas race at Northshore Park, making it a busy day for Township athletics.

Bear Branch Park anchors competitive tennis in The Woodlands. According to the Township's parks page, the community has 80 courts spread across 27 neighborhood parks, with 14 USPTA and PTR certified instructors approved to teach on Township courts.
