The Woodlands Christian Academy dropped a 48-27 road game to Kinkaid on Friday, Sept. 25, snapping a four-game winning streak and leaving the Warriors at 4-2 heading into conference play.

TWCA fell behind by 21 points, but the Warriors' passing attack still produced. Junior Baron Meacham hauled in 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. His longest catch covered 78 yards. Teammate Julio Fernandez Villarreal added 79 receiving yards.

Kinkaid, ranked 58th in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings to TWCA's 288th, entered the game at 2-3 in 2026 but had won 11 of its last 14 games dating to last season. MaxPreps called the outcome "not entirely unexpected," given the ranking gap.

TWCA's defense, which had allowed 126 points across six games, gave up its highest single-game total of the season.

TWCA opens TAPPS Division II district play against St. Joseph on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. CDT. The MaxPreps game preview lists the venue as Edna's Cowboy Memorial in Edna, though the Patch AM newsletter described TWCA as hosting.

St. Joseph brings a 5-1 record into the matchup. Both teams enter 0-0 in district, making this the conference opener for each. In the TAPPS Division II state rankings, TWCA sits at No. 6 and St. Joseph at No. 14.

TWCA averages 374.3 total yards per game, powered by 270.7 passing yards per game. St. Joseph averages 255.8 total yards, leaning more on the ground with 120.2 rushing yards per game compared with TWCA's 103.7.

The Warriors' season has been a mix of blowouts and tight finishes. After a 42-41 opening-night loss to St. John's on Aug. 21, TWCA rattled off wins of 48-0, 49-13, 43-0 and 24-23 before the Kinkaid defeat.

Three more district games follow the St. Joseph opener: FBCA on Oct. 9, at Second Baptist on Oct. 16 and Cypress Christian on Oct. 30.
