Members of The Woodlands Art League and Conroe Art League have until Wednesday, Sept. 30, to submit work for a juried exhibition. "The Art of Belonging" will display up to 30 selected pieces at The Woodlands Arts Council gallery.
The exhibit celebrates the role local art leagues play in connecting artists. An anonymous jury will select the works for the show, which runs Oct. 20 through Jan. 14, 2027, at the council's gallery at 9450 Grogans Mill Road, Ste. 160.
Each entry costs $20. All submissions will be reviewed blind by juror René Wiley, a Gulf Coast oil painter who operates the René Wiley Gallery on Galveston Island. Wiley will not see artists' names, league affiliations or contact information. Work will be judged solely on artistic merit.
The first-prize winner receives a three-day Featured Artist Pop-Up Exhibition at the council's gallery, including curatorial assistance and social media promotion. Acceptance notifications go out Oct. 12, and selected artists must deliver work by Oct. 16.
An opening reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 12. Attendance at the exhibition is free.
Photography Club exhibition set for Nov. 7
The Woodlands Photography Club holds its 2026 Award Ceremony and Exhibition on Nov. 7 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at 25814 Budde Road, fourth floor, according to Community Impact. Admission is free.
Categories include plants in nature, name the mood and black-and-white portraits, among other categories. Darryl Scearce won Best of Show at the 2025 event with a photograph titled "Splish-splash Taking a Bath."
