Woodlands Water customers can get half the cost of native plants and other water-saving upgrades back as a credit on their water bill, up to $150 per household.
The rebate covers 50% of the purchase cost and/or installation for five categories of items: rain barrels, drip irrigation, native plants, smart water controllers and rain sensors, according to the agency's rebates page. Rain sensor rebates are capped at $80.
The $150 cap is a lifetime limit. Residents in any of the 10 municipal utility districts served by Woodlands Water are eligible.
How to claim the credit
Residents must submit a completed rebate form along with itemized receipts through their WaterSmart portal online, according to the agency. The rebate shows up as a credit on the customer's water bill.
Woodlands Water maintains a list of low-water-use native plants for Montgomery County that qualify. The agency also lists local nurseries where residents can shop, including Nature's Way Resources in Conroe, Alspaugh's Ace Hardware in The Woodlands, The Arbor Gate in Tomball and Plantonic Friends Nursery in Spring.
The Woodlands Water Agency promoted the program in an Oct. 29 post on X. In a separate Oct. 26 post, the agency featured spiderwort, a native species it described as a water-saving plant, and linked to the full list of rebate-qualifying plants on its website.
