Crime in The Woodlands held steady according to a quarterly law enforcement report presented to the Township Board of Directors on Thursday, July 23, with no significant increases in major offenses.
Representatives from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office and the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office delivered the update at the Board's regular meeting at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.
The Board unanimously accepted the report.
Multi-agency operations net arrests, recover stolen vehicles
The three agencies highlighted several joint enforcement operations, including the recovery of stolen vehicles and arrests tied to organized burglary rings and catalytic converter theft networks, according to Hello Woodlands, which recapped the meeting.
Officials also cited enforcement efforts targeting human trafficking and child exploitation. One such operation with local ties, Operation Offside, was announced separately by Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable in July. That operation, conducted in June and timed around the FIFA World Cup, resulted in 61 arrests, 79 criminal charges and the safe recovery of 28 human trafficking victims. It involved the Precinct 3 Constable's Office, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, among other agencies.
Scam warning: agencies will never ask for payment by phone
Representatives from the three agencies told the Board that criminals are impersonating law enforcement through phone calls, text messages and emails to demand money from residents. The agencies stressed that legitimate law enforcement will never request payment over the phone.
E-bike and scooter safety discussed
The Board also discussed safety concerns related to e-bikes, scooters and other motorized vehicles during the presentation, though specific policy actions were not announced.
