Elizabeth, a special needs teacher in Magnolia ISD's ABLE program, has been sharing a one-bedroom apartment with her son. On Tuesday, July 28, her new home in Marble Creek was dedicated to her, making her one of the first homeowners in Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County's new 81-acre community in Magnolia.
Elizabeth and Nettaya, a local mother, became the first two homeowners in Marble Creek during a dedication ceremony that capped Blitz Build 2026. Four homes total were completed in less than a month, according to a Habitat for Humanity-authored article on Woodlands Online. LGI Homes built three of the four homes in just five days. Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations, partnering with Laura Powers Property Group, Compass RE TX LLC, finished the fourth in under a month.
"In just five days, our LGI team and trade partners have worked together to build three homes that will become part of the very first chapter of Marble Creek," said Chuck Collier, vice president of construction at LGI Homes.
A new chapter after Cedar Creek
The milestone comes after Habitat MCTX completed its Cedar Creek community in Conroe earlier in 2026, closing out more than 20 years and 129 homes there. Marble Creek picks up where Cedar Creek left off.
The vision started in 2021 when the Chimenti family donated 81 acres of land near 26296 Red Oak Lane in Magnolia, on the Waller-Montgomery County line. The name comes from a marble found in a creek on the property. The finished neighborhood will include walking trails, parks, and nature areas alongside more than 200 affordable homes.
Vicki Johnson, executive director of Habitat MCTX, said the organization has raised more than $6 million of its $11 million capital campaign goal. The remaining $5 million will fund site clearing, utilities, water systems, drainage, and streets.
Prospective homeowners must complete Habitat MCTX's program, which includes classes and 350 hours of sweat equity, according to Montgomery County News. Future buyers who finish the program are expected to begin moving in by early 2027.

The capital campaign is chaired by Shirelle Chimenti, Gerald Glenn, and Mike Glenn. Donors can participate in "Hope Notes," writing messages of encouragement that will be shared with future homeowners at their dedication ceremonies.

What's next
With the first four Marble Creek homes complete, construction continues toward the goal of more than 200 homes on the site. The next wave of families is expected to move in by early 2027.
