Ronald "Ron" Davis, a Lone Star College Police Department officer for 15 years, died Oct. 25 after a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 290 in the Jersey Village area of Harris County.

Davis, 65, was also a retired Houston Police Department officer, FOX 26 Houston first reported, citing Harris County Sheriff's Office statements.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the crash around 9:17 p.m. on U.S. 290 near West Street. Investigators said Davis was driving westbound when he failed to stay in a single lane and lost control of his vehicle, according to FOX 26. His car crossed several lanes of traffic and struck a Toyota 4Runner driven by Randy Lim.

The impact sent Davis's vehicle northward, where it struck a Kia Forte driven by Kyerra Fields before hitting a freeway cement wall.

Jersey Village EMS transported Davis to HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, where he later died from his injuries, the sheriff's office reported. The conditions of the other two drivers were not available.

Investigators have not determined why Davis lost control.

LSC community responds

Nancy Molina, Lone Star College System vice chancellor for legal affairs and general counsel, said in a statement that the college "is aware of the incident and extends its condolences to everyone affected." She added that "out of respect for those involved, we are unable to comment on the details at this time."

The LSC Police Department posted a remembrance on social media, calling Davis's loss one "felt far beyond the badge." The department thanked Davis for "15 years of service to the Lone Star College community."

It employs both commissioned police officers and non-commissioned public safety officers across five patrol districts covering more than 20 locations. Lone Star College enrolled more than 100,000 students for the 2026-2027 academic year, according to The Woodlands Online.

Edwin Gomez serves as LSC police chief, according to the department's team page. No public statement from Gomez regarding Davis's death appeared in available records as of publication.
