Woodlands-area residents who missed the Aug. 24 start of the fall semester at Lone Star College System can still enroll in courses launching in September, October and November.

The system's Next Start program offers eight- to 14-week sessions throughout the academic year, with registration open until the first day of each class. Courses are available online, in-person and in hybrid formats, with day, evening and weekend options, according to Woodlands Online.

"Next Start sessions provide flexibility to accommodate any schedule," Seelpa Keshvala, LSCS executive vice chancellor for academics, said in an Aug. 31 announcement. She said online, in-person and hybrid courses run days, nights and weekends year-round.

The program targets students who work while attending school, are raising children, face transportation barriers or want to finish credentials faster, according to the college system. In fall 2025, 67.5% of LSCS students attended part-time and 31.3% received financial aid, according to the college system.

LSCS set a spring 2026 enrollment record with 97,221 students, a 6.4% jump from the previous spring. The system enrolls more than 97,000 students each semester across eight colleges and six centers.

Lone Star College-Montgomery, the campus closest to The Woodlands at 3200 College Park Drive in Conroe, offers more than 85 programs of study. The campus ran Next Start sessions during the spring 2026 semester with eight-, 12- and 14-week options, according to LSC-Montgomery. Specific fall 2026 session dates for LSC-Montgomery have not been published separately.

Tuition for the 2026-27 academic year is $111 per credit hour for in-district students and $249 for out-of-district students, Community Impact reported. Applying is free. The process takes about 30 minutes, according to the college system.
