Montgomery County voters cast 192,347 early ballots before the polls closed on Oct. 30, ABC13 reported.

The county has 487,232 registered voters, according to the Texas Secretary of State's office. That puts the early-vote share at roughly 39%, a calculated figure based on those two numbers.

Through Thursday, Oct. 29, the last day with a complete statewide count, Montgomery County's early vote ran 37% ahead of the same point in the 2018 midterm, ABC13 reported. Fort Bend County was up 38%, Bexar County 28%, Tarrant County 27% and Dallas County 17%.

The pace picked up early. Community Impact reported that 104,054 ballots were cast in the first week alone, representing 21% of registered voters. In the 2022 midterm, 78,075 people voted through the first seven days, or 19% of registered voters.

Across the region, Harris County set its own midterm record with 1,081,010 early voters, more than a third of its 2.7 million registered voters. At the same point in 2022, early and mail voting in the governor's race totaled roughly 750,000, ABC13 reported.

Statewide, the Texas Secretary of State's Oct. 30 file showed nearly 7 million Texans had voted early, 36% of the state's 19 million registered voters. That number was expected to grow because only 83 of the state's 254 counties had reported their Friday in-person totals when the file was posted.
