Tosin Fatusin and Amber Harris discovered Gymboree Play & Music at a birthday party, realized the brand had no presence near The Woodlands and decided to change that.

The two Woodlands-area parents, both with young children, are launching a new Gymboree franchise at 26435 Kuykendahl Road, Unit 150, in Creekside Park West. The grand opening celebration is set for Friday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., according to Community Impact.

Fatusin and Harris first encountered the childhood development franchise at its Post Oak location. When they later found no Gymboree serving The Woodlands area, the pair applied to run their own.

"When we later realized there was no longer a Gymboree serving The Woodlands area, we were excited to bring that experience back for other families," Fatusin told Community Impact in a July 22 article. "Our hope has always been to create more than a children's enrichment center — we wanted to create a place where children discover their potential through play while parents find encouragement, friendship and community."

What Gymboree offers

Gymboree Play & Music, founded in 1976, runs play-based classes for children from birth through age 5. The program is organized by age group: Infant (0–8 months), Baby (6–18 months), Toddler (10–28 months) and Preschooler (22 months–5 years). Sessions focus on physical, cognitive and social development through music, games and parent-child activities, according to Gymboree's website.

The brand operates in more than 30 countries.

The Woodlands location lists regular classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m., based on a community Facebook post. Families can call or text (346) 573-2961 for information, per the business's Instagram page.
