The Woodlands High School opens homecoming week Monday, Sept. 21. The five-day stretch wraps up with a football game against Caney Creek at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
This year's theme is Alice in Wonderland. The Student Council chose the theme and the dance title, "The Woodlands in Wonderland," at its first officer meeting of the year, The Caledonian, the school's student newspaper, reported Monday, Sept. 14.
Here is the dress-up schedule:
- Monday, Sept. 21: Magical Monday. Come as a Disney character, classical or niche.
- Tuesday, Sept. 22: Dress-like-Adam-Sandler Day. Baggy shorts and an oversized T-shirt.
- Wednesday, Sept. 23: Woodlands Wednesday. School merchandise (shirts, shorts, hoodies). The Red and Green Day parade also takes place Wednesday.
- Friday, Sept. 25: Split theme. Underclassmen and juniors wear western attire (boots encouraged); seniors dress formal for "Formal Friday."
Thursday has no listed theme. The Caledonian's schedule did not include a Thursday dress-up day, and parade details such as route and time have not been announced.
Highlanders enter homecoming at 2-1
Head coach J. Rapp's Highlanders carry momentum from a 58-0 shutout of Humble in Week 3. They opened the season with a 30-31 loss to Bridgeland, then beat Klein Oak 41-38.
Junior quarterback Kaden Copelin threw six touchdown passes in the first half alone against Humble, hitting six different receivers: Kaiden Stewart, Colton Weddel, Bryson Bourn, Carter Cass, Daniel Villanueva-Boone and Harry Miller. Defensive end Magnus Herndon added two sacks, and linebacker Matthew Stuber grabbed an interception.
Senior wide receiver Bourn leads the Highlanders with 86.0 receiving yards per game, according to MaxPreps. Stewart, a senior, paces the rushing attack at 54.0 yards per game.
Caney Creek enters at 1-2 after losses to 5A programs Splendora and Porter. The Panthers picked up their first win in Week 3, beating Aldine 48-7.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, according to MaxPreps.
