Families can climb aboard fire engines, explore ambulances and get behind the wheel of public works trucks at The Woodlands Township's Meet the Fleet event Saturday, Oct. 3.

The free event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at a new location this year: The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. Admission is free, according to Community Impact.

Meet the Fleet puts residents face-to-face with the municipal and emergency vehicles that serve The Woodlands, according to a Township press release. Vehicles on display will include fire trucks, ambulances, dump trucks and ATVs. Attendees can climb into cabs, check out equipment up close and talk with the first responders and public works crews who operate the machines daily.

Beyond the vehicle displays, the morning will include children's activities, live demonstrations and concessions.

The Township's Neighborhood Services Department organizes Meet the Fleet as part of its National Night Out initiative. National Night Out is a nationwide community-policing effort that encourages neighbors and local public safety agencies to build stronger ties. The Woodlands Township's own National Night Out celebration follows the next day, Sunday, Oct. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Township promoted the event on its X account Wednesday, Sept. 30, inviting residents to climb aboard fire engines, explore public works trucks and meet the professionals who operate them. The press release, published Sept. 17 under the headline "Climb Aboard, Learn and Connect," framed the event as a chance for families to spend a morning learning how Township vehicles support the community.

No registration is required. Residents with questions can call the Township at (281) 210-3800 or visit the Neighborhood Services page.
