The Woodlands Township wants a contractor to run its adult softball league at Alden Bridge Sports Park. The program has drawn as many as 97 teams in a single season.
The Township issued Request for Proposal C-2026-0543 seeking a league coordinator to manage the program under a 35-month service contract with options for two additional three-year renewals. The contract would cover league administration, scheduling, umpire recruitment and payment, on-site supervision, marketing and routine field preparation.
The league runs three seasons per year: spring from January through May, summer from June through August, and fall from September through December. Enrollment swings widely by season. Spring 2024 hit a high of 97 teams. Summer 2024 dropped to 23. The most recent season listed, spring 2026, logged 82 teams.
Teams pay $450 for an eight-week season, including umpire fees. The RFP allows proposers to structure a revenue-sharing arrangement with the Township.
Games are scheduled on no more than three days per week to keep the park available for public use on non-program days. The league offers co-ed and men's divisions across five available days: Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Sunday and Wednesday slots have historically drawn the most teams.
Alden Bridge Sports Park has four softball fields. The largest, Field No. 1, stretches 334 feet to center.
The park is also in the middle of a broader upgrade. In October 2024, the Township board approved a $9.8 million first phase of renovations that included an additional grass field, conversion of one field to all-weather turf with bleachers and a scoreboard, more than 200 parking spaces and a new restroom. That work was expected to wrap by April 2026, though the Township has not confirmed whether it is complete.
The Township will continue handling daily infield grooming, raking and moisture management on weekdays. It will also provide storage, bases, plugs and scoreboard access. The contractor must carry at least $1 million in general liability, automobile liability and cyber risk insurance per occurrence.
Proposals will be scored with pricing and financial plan weighted at 40 percent, league management experience at 20 percent, and the remaining 40 percent split among field preparation, software, rules enforcement, umpire qualifications, site supervision and marketing.

A mandatory pre-proposal meeting is set for Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. at Townhall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. Written questions are due to Miller by Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. Proposals must be submitted by mail or hand delivery to the same address by Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.
