The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to help run five community events between September and December, with sign-ups open now for residents and students who need community service hours.

The department posted the recruitment call Thursday, July 30, listing roles at Labor Day in The Woodlands, the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas, Trick or Treat Trail, Lighting of the Doves, and Glow and Go. Positions range from setup and guest assistance to specialized jobs like staffing hydration stations, monitoring carnival games, and managing candy stops, according to the announcement on Woodlands Online.

Students can earn service hours, too. The department will provide school community service documentation upon request for any of the events.

Here's the lineup:

Labor Day in The Woodlands: Sunday, Sept. 6, at Waterway Square. Kid Zone volunteers will monitor the craft station, help distribute materials, and keep craft areas clean.

Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas: Thursday, Oct. 8 through Saturday, Oct. 10, at Northshore Park. Roles include Packet Pickup, Bag Drop, Start/Finish Line, Hydration Station, Course Monitor, Waterway Course Marshall, Athlete Food Area, and Green Team. Available positions vary by day.

Trick or Treat Trail: Sunday, Oct. 25, at Rob Fleming Recreation Center. Volunteers can work Carnival Games, Costume Contest, Kid Zone, Candy Stop, or Candy Trash Collectors.

Lighting of the Doves: Saturday, Nov. 21, at Town Green Park.

Glow and Go: Saturday, Dec. 5, on The Woodlands Waterway.

The department noted that groups and teams can plan end-of-year volunteer outings around the Lighting of the Doves and Glow and Go events. Specific roles for those two are listed on the sign-up page.

The Township's Parks and Recreation events collectively draw tens of thousands of residents and visitors each year, according to the Parks and Recreation Department. Lighting of the Doves alone generated $10,000 in sponsorships in 2025.

Residents can sign up for one or more events at thewoodlandsparks.com/Events/Volunteer.
