All six Conroe ISD bands earn superior UIL ratings

All six Conroe Independent School District high school marching bands earned Superior ratings at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Regional Marching Band Contest on Oct. 17 at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

The clean sweep sends every band in the district to the UIL Area Marching Band Contest on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the same Shenandoah venue, according to the Conroe ISD Connection newsletter published Oct. 23.

The district's six high school programs all performed well enough at the Regional contest to advance. Conroe ISD said on X on Oct. 24 that the result was an incredible achievement and praised students and directors for their hard work and dedication.

The results matter.

The newsletter said the district is proud of its students, directors and staff and wished the bands well as they continue their marching season. The Oct. 17 Regional contest was also held at Woodforest Bank Stadium, located at 19115 David Memorial Drive in Shenandoah.

Conroe ISD's marching programs have reached the state level in recent years. One district band competed at the UIL State Marching Competition in November 2025, placing 25th out of 249 6A bands at the Alamodome in San Antonio, the Cavalier Post reported.

Senior mellophone player Angel Rodriguez reflected on that 2025 season in the Cavalier Post, saying, "I took for granted how much time we really had and never thought to make the most of it, especially it being my last year."

The band achievement caps a strong stretch of district recognitions highlighted in the same newsletter. Conroe ISD was named a Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction by the Career & Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) for the fourth consecutive year. The district also earned an "A" rating for Superior Achievement under the state's School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 24th straight year.

The Oct. 31 Area Competition at Woodforest Bank Stadium has no start time listed in district materials as of Oct. 23. Families can check with Conroe ISD for scheduling details.
