Ariat, the western wear and boot retailer, is spending $1.1 million to build out a new store inside The Woodlands Mall, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing.

The project calls for an interior renovation of a 7,399-square-foot space at 1201 Lake Woodlands Dr., Suite 1212. Construction is scheduled to start March 1, 2027, with a completion date of June 21, 2027, the TDLR filing shows.

Community Impact Newspaper first reported the planned store on Oct. 27. That report listed a June 26 completion date, though the TDLR record shows June 21. Community Impact noted its article was based on the TDLR filing and would be updated when more information becomes available.

The project is privately funded by the tenant, according to the filing. The property owner is listed as The Woodlands Mall Associates, with a mailing address in Chicago. RGLA Solutions Inc., based in Schiller Park, Illinois, is the design firm.

The company got its start in 1993 making boots for equestrian athletes and western riders, applying athletic shoe technology to the category, Local Profile reported. Ariat has since grown into a broader western apparel and workwear brand sold worldwide. The company established a regional headquarters in Fort Worth in 2020 and opened a flagship store in the Fort Worth Stockyards in 2022, according to Local Profile.

Ariat CEO Liz O'Neill said in the Local Profile report that Fort Worth has been central to the brand's growth.

The expansion is not limited to Texas.

Ariat currently operates three stores in the state: in Austin, El Paso and Fort Worth, according to its website. The Woodlands location would be its fourth. The brand is also planning a Dallas store on Henderson Avenue with a spring 2027 target, according to D Magazine.

In 2025, Ariat announced a two-phase, $70 million-plus expansion of its Fort Worth regional headquarters with plans to add 250 jobs, Local Profile reported. On Oct. 27, Local Profile also reported the brand signed a 10-year naming rights deal for the former Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, now called Ariat Arena.

The Woodlands Mall has seen a string of tenant moves in 2026, with Swarovski, Sbarro, Urban Outfitters and Casper all opening or relocating within the property, Community Impact reported in June. Ariat's build-out is set to wrap up by late June 2027.
