Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital climbed to No. 7 in Texas and No. 5 in the Houston metro area in the 2026-27 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings released Tuesday, Aug. 4. The No. 7 placement is the facility's highest-ever statewide ranking, according to Hello Woodlands.

The annual evaluation, which reviews nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide, also recognized The Woodlands campus with a national ranking in Diabetes & Endocrinology and a regional ranking in Orthopedics. The regional orthopedics category is new this year, part of U.S. News' debut of regional specialty rankings in cancer, cardiology, orthopedics and rehabilitation.

"This achievement reflects the commitment of our team of physicians, nurses and staff to deliver unparalleled care and service to our community every day," said David Bernard, CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and senior vice president of Houston Methodist.

The rankings draw on more than 800 million patient records, measuring risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience, according to the Houston Chronicle. U.S. News evaluated hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions, recognizing 505 Best Regional Hospitals across 49 states and Washington, D.C.

Five Houston Methodist community hospitals earned statewide rankings this cycle. Sugar Land placed No. 3 (tied), The Woodlands No. 7, Willowbrook No. 9, Baytown No. 14 and Clear Lake No. 21 (tied). The flagship Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center was named to the U.S. News Honor Roll for the 10th time and ranked No. 1 in Texas for the 15th consecutive year, according to the Houston Methodist newsroom.

The flagship hospital has now appeared in the U.S. News rankings for 34 consecutive years.
