Montgomery County Food Bank will bring Iron Chef Cat Cora to the area for its first-ever Flourish & Nourish Ladies Luncheon on Oct. 22 at The Blue Magnolia in Magnolia.

The fundraiser, presented by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, pairs a champagne reception and luncheon with a fireside chat between Cora and KPRC 2 News anchor Lisa Hernandez. Proceeds go directly to the food bank's hunger relief across Montgomery County.

Cora made television history in 2005 as the first female Iron Chef on Food Network's "Iron Chef America." She was also the first woman inducted into the American Academy of Chefs Culinary Hall of Fame. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Cora cooked at two three-Michelin-star restaurants in France before building her career in television and philanthropy. She founded Chefs for Humanity, a nonprofit focused on reducing hunger through relief efforts and nutrition education.

"Cat Cora has used her talent and platform to fight hunger around the world, and we're honored to welcome her to Montgomery County," Scott Burns, president and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank, said in a statement announcing the event. "Her passion for ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food makes her the perfect voice to help launch Flourish & Nourish and inspire our community to join us in the fight against hunger."

The food bank described Flourish & Nourish as a new signature event aimed at bringing women across the county together. The afternoon will also feature a "Beauty, Bubbles & Bling" Pull, according to the event listing.

Two Montgomery County Food Bank board members are co-chairing the luncheon: Jacqueline Huntsman Calder and Krystle Riley, who also serves as vice president and chief operating officer of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.

The need is significant. More than 120,000 Montgomery County residents are food insecure, according to the food bank. In 2025, the organization distributed more than 10 million meals. Residents turned to the food bank an average of 90,000 times each month.
