Recent high school graduates and returning students in The Woodlands area can register for fall college classes in person on two upcoming Saturdays at Lone Star College-Montgomery, before the semester rush begins.

The college's "Avoid the Stampede Registration Saturdays" will run Aug. 15 and Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the LSC-Montgomery Student Center, according to Woodlands Online. Staff will help students sign up for classes, answer questions about programs and walk them through the enrollment process on the spot.

"We know starting college is a big step," said Juan Lebron, LSC-Montgomery vice president of student success. "We're ready to help you with the support you need to register for fall classes and to answer your questions in-person and in real time."

The timing matters for Woodlands-area families. Conroe ISD's first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to the district calendar, just three days before the first Saturday session. For 2026 graduates weighing their options, the events offer a low-pressure entry point: walk in, talk to an adviser and leave enrolled.

LSC's in-district tuition for 2026-27 is $111 per credit hour. A full-time semester of 12 credit hours runs $1,332, according to Lone Star College's tuition page. By comparison, the same course load costs $7,878 at UT-Austin, $6,237 at Texas A&M and $5,559 at the University of Houston.

The college offers more than 200 programs system-wide, according to its website, including honors tracks and workforce training at the Montgomery campus.

Students who can't make a Saturday session can still get help during regular business hours: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome but should arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.
