Every overnight stay at Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake Conroe through late September will send $5 to The Jazz Connection, a volunteer-run Montgomery County nonprofit that provides free music education to junior high and high school students across the North Houston area.

The fundraiser is part of the Margaritaville brand's annual Day of Service, which supports Singing for Change, the charitable foundation Jimmy Buffett created in 1995. The Lake Conroe resort, located at 600 Margaritaville Pkwy. in Montgomery about 20 miles from The Woodlands, chose The Jazz Connection as its local beneficiary this year.

The $5-per-night donation applies to any stay from Aug. 3 through Sept. 27, according to Woodlands Online. Guests who book the resort's "Keep the Party Going" package get 20% off the best available rate, a $50 resort credit per night for dining, drinks, spa and activities, and two commemorative Jimmy Buffett Day cups.

The deal runs through late September. The resort's booking page lists the offer as valid through Sept. 26; guests should confirm availability directly with the resort.

The promotion peaks over Labor Day weekend, Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. Friday is designated Jimmy Buffett Day, honoring the musician who died Sept. 1, 2023, at age 76. Bama Breeze Sounds, a Margaritaville tribute act, performs live Saturday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Jazz Connection gives students a place to build ensemble skills, explore improvisation and perform for their community. The nonprofit is also scheduled to play a free show at The Table at Madeley in Conroe on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Singing for Change has distributed more than $12 million to grassroots organizations since its founding, according to the foundation's website.
