A father and his two sons, all wearing Montgomery County Sheriff's Office badges, are the first family featured in a new agency video series aimed at showing residents the people behind the patrol cars.
The MCSO launched "Serving Together" on Thursday, July 30, spotlighting families with multigenerational ties to the department. The debut episode features Felix Cantu Sr., a patrol deputy; Felix Cantu Jr., a Criminal Investigation Division detective; and Joel Cantu, a patrol deputy.
Three members of one household, two divisions, one agency.
The series is part of a broader community-engagement push under Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, whose 2025 Annual Report listed community partnerships as a core pillar of his first year in office. In that report, Doolittle said the agency's mission "has always been to serve with honor and integrity" and that he was "immensely proud of what we have accomplished together in this first year, and we are just getting started."
MCSO described the Cantu family's commitment as an inspiration to the entire department, according to the agency's announcement on the Woodlands Township news feed. The department said it is proud to serve alongside the family and called their legacy at MCSO a lasting one.
Felix Cantu Sr. and Joel Cantu both serve as patrol deputies, the uniformed officers most visible to residents during traffic stops and neighborhood calls. Felix Cantu Jr. works as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division, handling cases after initial reports are filed. The announcement did not specify how long each family member has served or which patrol district they are assigned to.
The MCSO identified the Cantu episode as the first installment, indicating additional families will be featured in future videos. No release schedule for upcoming episodes has been announced.
The series launch comes one day after MCSO announced six new hires and three promotions in a separate staffing update reported Wednesday, July 29. Residents can watch the debut episode on the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office social media pages.
