The Run for Jeev Foundation brings its annual suicide-prevention 5K back to The Woodlands area Nov. 29 for the race's fifth year.
The memorial run and walk honoring Sanjeev Panja starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Woodforest Bank Stadium, 19115 David Memorial Dr. in Shenandoah. The event wraps up at 11 a.m. Registration is open to runners, joggers and walkers through RunSignUp.
The Woodlands-based nonprofit, a 501(c) organization, focuses on mental health awareness and suicide prevention among teens and young adults. Since its first race in 2022, the event has drawn more than 1,000 total participants and raised more than $100,000 for mental health organizations and initiatives, according to the foundation's website.
Registration includes chip timing, a T-shirt and a handmade clay medal. The foundation crafts a clay medal by hand for every finisher each year. Students get half off.
Volunteers from multiple community organizations across The Woodlands help put the race together. The Junior League of The Woodlands is among the groups that have supported the event, according to the foundation.
Beyond the race, the foundation has awarded $6,000 in scholarships to high school seniors who have shown a commitment to mental health advocacy in their communities, according to a foundation Facebook post. The scholarships and the annual 5K are part of the foundation's broader work, which includes community initiatives, mental health awareness training and connecting young people with resources, according to RunGuides.
The foundation said its mission is to help teens and young adults access mental health support and build a path toward a healthier future. All race proceeds go to the Run for Jeev Foundation to fund those efforts.
The race is open to all skill levels. Registration and event details are available at runforjeev.com.
