Woodlands residents have six free and low-cost events to choose from this August, including lakefront concerts, a poolside mermaid swim for kids and a gardening class taught by a Texas A&M professor.

The Township posted its August lineup on Saturday, August 1, listing featured events running Thursday, August 6 through Thursday, August 27.

Rock the Row kicks off August 6

The outdoor concert series returns to Hughes Landing, 1900 Hughes Landing Blvd., on Thursday, August 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. Local and regional bands play pop, rock and country on the lakefront. The free series continues on Thursday evenings.

Farmers Market every Saturday

The Woodlands Farmers Market runs every Saturday morning at Grogan's Mill Shopping Center, 7 Switchbud Place. Sponsored by the Grogan's Mill Village Association, the market features more than 60 vendors selling local produce, prepared foods, artisan goods and beverages, rain or shine.

Morning with a Mermaid: August 15

Children ages 3–10 can swim, play underwater games and make seaside crafts with a visiting mermaid at Cranebrook Pool on Saturday, August 15. Two time slots are available: 8 a.m. for shallow-water swimmers and 9:30 a.m. for stronger swimmers. The program sold out at Cranebrook Pool last August and earned The Woodlands Township Aquatics a Special Event of the Year award, according to Hello Woodlands.

Salute to First Responders Blood Drive: August 20

Residents can donate blood on Thursday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Township offices, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. The drive honors local first responders.

Gardening double-header: August 21 and 22

Landscape designer and award-winning garden book author Cherie Foster Colburn leads Golden Hour Gardening: Landscape Rescue 101 on Friday, August 21, at 6 p.m. in The Woodlands Townhall, Meeting Room 150, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. The free session wraps up the Township's three-part summer gardening series.

The next morning, Dr. Juan Anciso, a Texas A&M University professor and extension specialist whose expertise covers vegetable research and food safety, teaches the Fall Organic Vegetable Gardening Class on Saturday, August 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the same Technology Forest Boulevard location. Also free.

Cars & Coffee this weekend

Before the main calendar window opens, The Woodlands Car Club hosts Cars & Coffee for a Cause on Sunday, August 2, from 6 to 10 a.m. at Market Street. All vehicle types are welcome, and the club donates to Market Street's Change for Charities program benefiting Montgomery County nonprofits.
