Cellipont Bioservices is backing six client drug programs headed for FDA filings from its 76,000-square-foot facility in The Woodlands.

The company announced Thursday, Sept. 3 that its Texas facility has supported six projects targeting Investigational New Drug, or IND, submissions in 2026. An IND application is the step a drug developer must clear before starting clinical trials in patients.

CEO Darren Head called the milestone a meaningful demonstration of the capabilities the company has built at its Woodlands site. He said each program has unique scientific and manufacturing requirements.

"Advancing these IND-enabling efforts in parallel reflects the experience, collaboration, and dedication of our entire team," Head said in the release.

Cellipont is a contract development and manufacturing organization, or CDMO. It does not develop its own drugs. Instead, it handles process development, manufacturing under strict Good Manufacturing Practice standards, quality testing and regulatory preparation for other companies' cell therapy programs. The Woodlands facility supports both autologous therapies, made from a patient's own cells, and allogeneic therapies, made from donor cells.

The company, privately held, operates out of San Diego and The Woodlands. It relocated its Texas operations from California, according to the Greater Houston Partnership. The Woodlands facility includes seven clean rooms, quality-control labs, temperature-controlled storage and segregated shipping bays.

The six-IND announcement caps a busy stretch. Cellipont announced July 28 that it had released its 100th GMP batch from the Woodlands facility. On Feb. 24, the company announced a strategic collaboration with Soter Bio, a Houston-based manufacturer specializing in RNA technology, to build a coordinated domestic cell therapy manufacturing pipeline.

Cellipont says it has more than 15 years of experience in cell therapy development and manufacturing. The company did not disclose how many people work at its Woodlands site or name the six client programs pursuing IND filings.
