Yonutz Donuts and Ice Cream opened Monday, Sept. 14, in Grogan's Mill Village Center, bringing a new dessert option to one of The Woodlands' oldest shopping centers.
Franchise owner Staci Loftus confirmed the grand opening to Community Impact Newspaper. The shop is at 2230 Buckthorne Place, Suite 150.
Yonutz specializes in what it calls Smashed Donuts: hot-pressed doughnuts coated in cinnamon sugar and filled with ice cream. The menu also includes milkshakes topped with a doughnut, ice cream in multiple flavors and both full-size and mini doughnuts with a variety of toppings. The shop offers catering and event services as well.
"We can't wait to share our fun, exciting and delicious dessert options, especially our Smashed Donuts and milkshakes with The Woodlands community," Loftus said.
The franchise operates locations across more than 10 states, according to the Yonutz website. The Woodlands location is its latest Texas outpost.
Loftus signaled her enthusiasm for the project more than a year before the doors opened. In a July 2025 Community Impact article announcing the planned location, she called the concept "fun" and said she was happy to bring the experience to the Woodlands community.
The shop lands in a village center with deep local roots. Grogan's Mill Village Center opened in 1974 under the name The Wharf, making it the first village center in The Woodlands, according to a local real estate blog that documented the site's history.
Howard Hughes acquired the property in 2023 and spent roughly 10 months overhauling the 31,363-square-foot retail portion. The company cut the ribbon on the revitalized center on June 25, 2025, the blog reported. The redevelopment also added the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center adjacent to the retail site, with PGAL serving as lead architect on the new construction.
The Urban Land Institute Houston named the redeveloped center the winner of its 2026 Development of Distinction Award for Historical Redevelopment, according to the same blog.
