Three-year-olds in The Woodlands who aren't yet headed to kindergarten now have a structured learning option built just for them. The Woodlands Children's Museum opened registration for its 2026 fall workshop series, which includes a brand-new PreK readiness program for 3-year-olds launching Aug. 31.

The Wonderseum 3-year-old PreK Program is a parent-child experience that builds confidence, listening skills and socialization through manipulatives, literacy supports and process art, all grounded in a Reggio Emilia approach to child-led learning, according to the museum's announcement. The program eases playful transitions for children not yet enrolled in formal schooling.

The timing lines up with the school calendar. Conroe ISD's first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 12, and the museum's workshops run through Nov. 20, giving families a complement to the academic year.

Eight classes for ages 2–9

The full fall lineup spans eight workshops. Beyond the PreK program, the museum is partnering with On Pointe Academy, a ballet school founded this year in The Woodlands by Madison Morris, a Woodlands native and former Houston Ballet dancer who also holds an MS and registered dietitian credential. The partnership brings two new dance classes: Ballet Buddies for ages 2–3 with an adult, introducing movement through ballet-inspired music, and Creative Movement for ages 4–5, blending brain-compatible dance education with ballet fundamentals.

Returning STEM offerings include LEGO Bot Builders (ages 5–6), Beyond Robotics (ages 7–9), Sci-Quest Junior (ages 5–6) and Sci-Quest (ages 7–9). A Playful Palette art class rounds out the schedule for the youngest learners, ages 2–3 with an adult.

Interim Executive Director Jennifer Kraus said the workshops are built around engagement and fun, giving children chances to explore interests and build friendships in a supportive setting.

Homeschool families welcome

The museum noted the workshops also serve homeschool families and children looking to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom.

Sessions run in six-week blocks, with new curriculum introduced in the second session so children can continue through the fall.
