Woodlands-area residents who want to help feed hungry neighbors can now sign up for Shootout Hunger 2026, the Montgomery County Food Bank's annual sporting clay tournament that raised enough last year to fund more than 670,000 meals for families, seniors and veterans in need.
The Food Bank serves more than 120,000 food-insecure Montgomery County residents through a network of 90-plus partner agencies, including several in The Woodlands: The Woodlands First Baptist Church, The Woodlands Methodist Church and Interfaith of The Woodlands, among others.
The fundraiser takes place Friday, Sept. 18, at Blackwood Sporting Club, 11400 FM 2854 Rd. in Conroe. Presented by longtime sponsor Cowboy Kia, the event welcomes both experienced shooters and first-timers to a 72-clay-target course shot in teams of four, according to the event listing on Woodlands Online.
Participants must bring their own shotgun and safety glasses. The Food Bank provides 12-gauge ammunition, ear plugs, a golf cart per team, breakfast and lunch.
The day starts early. Registration and breakfast open at 7:30 a.m., followed by welcoming remarks and a safety briefing at 8:45 a.m. Shooting begins at 9 a.m. A BBQ lunch, complimentary gun cleaning and awards ceremony follow at 12:30 p.m.
All proceeds go directly to feeding Montgomery County residents facing hunger. Under the Food Bank's formula, $1 provides up to four meals, meaning registration fees translate into groceries on tables across the county. President and CEO Scott Burns leads the nonprofit from its Conroe headquarters.
Blackwood Sporting Club describes sporting clays as "golf with a shotgun." The 12-station course accommodates large groups and can be completed in one to three hours.
