St. Luke's Health - The Woodlands Hospital ranked No. 10 in the Houston metro area and No. 21 in Texas in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, released Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The hospital earned High Performing status in nine procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, kidney failure, COPD, heart arrhythmia, heart failure, hip fracture, pneumonia, stroke and TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). Only 16% of the nearly 4,500 hospitals evaluated nationwide earned any "Best Hospitals" designation, according to U.S. News. Rankings are based on risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience, drawing on more than 800 million records of patient care.

The recognition makes St. Luke's the second Woodlands-area hospital to land in this year's rankings. As we reported Aug. 5, Houston Methodist The Woodlands ranked No. 5 in Houston and No. 7 in Texas, giving local residents two nationally recognized hospitals within a short drive.

Dr. Augusto "Gus" Sepulveda, chief medical officer for the Houston market of CommonSpirit Health, credited frontline staff for the results. "We are immensely proud of our teams and their dedication to delivering the highest standards of healthcare," Sepulveda said in a statement reported by Woodlands Online.

St. Luke's Health - The Woodlands is part of CommonSpirit Health, a national health system. The system's flagship, Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, ranked No. 3 in Houston and No. 5 in Texas, with national specialty rankings in ophthalmology (No. 12), neurology and neurosurgery (No. 48), gastroenterology and GI surgery (No. 49) and pulmonology and lung surgery (No. 48).

Two more community hospitals in the St. Luke's network also picked up High Performing designations. St. Luke's Health - Lakeside Hospital in The Woodlands area earned one for back surgery (spinal fusion), and St. Luke's Health - Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson earned one for kidney failure.

Nine categories. Two local hospitals in the top 21 statewide. For Woodlands residents weighing where to seek care, the 2026-2027 rankings put two options on the map close to home.
