Five businesses have opened or reopened across The Woodlands area this summer, adding a padel club, a coffee shop, a renovated restaurant, an indoor playground and a children's enrichment center to the local lineup.
Here's what's new and where to find it.
Waygood Coffee
Waygood Coffee opened its fourth Texas location at 3713 College Park Drive in Conroe the week of Monday, July 20, following a soft opening that began July 15, Community Impact reported.
The shop specializes in espresso-based drinks with housemade syrups, including vanilla and caramel. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Sportika Woodlands Indoor Padel
Sportika Woodlands Indoor Padel opened July 27 at 8626 West Lane in Magnolia, director Paulina Macias confirmed to Community Impact. The club has six indoor courts and offers professional coaching, lessons and clinics for all skill levels. Residents can book courts at sportika.playbypoint.com or call (713) 566-0608.
Black Walnut Cafe
Black Walnut Cafe in The Woodlands reopened July 31 after a renovation that included fresh paint and new flooring in the bar area, PaperCity reported. The reopening coincided with Houston Restaurant Week.
New menu items include a sweet potato breakfast hash, a Korean breakfast protein bowl and a Texas-sized chicken fried steak alongside the restaurant's existing breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
Happyland Playground
Happyland Playground held its grand opening Aug. 2 at 25903 Elmfield Drive, Suite 100, in Spring, as we reported July 30. The indoor playground is built for kids ages 4–12 and features climbing towers, netted bridges, trampolines, slides and a giant ball pit. A snack bar serves coffee, pizza, corn dogs and Dippin' Dots for parents and kids alike.
Happyland is a sister venue to Happyville, which serves younger children.
Gymboree Play & Music
Woodlands-area parents Tosin Fatusin and Amber Harris are opening a Gymboree Play & Music franchise at 26435 Kuykendahl Road, Unit 150, in Creekside Park West, as we reported July 28. The grand opening celebration is set for Friday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m.
"When we later realized there was no longer a Gymboree serving The Woodlands area, we were excited to bring that experience back for other families," Fatusin said in a July 22 interview with Community Impact about the franchise launch.
Gymboree offers play-based classes for children from birth through age 5, with regular sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Families can call or text (346) 573-2961 for details.
Gymboree's Friday, Aug. 21 grand opening at 2 p.m. is the next milestone on the calendar for the five new businesses.
